Privacy Policy
Plan2Ace ("we", "the app") is a study app that turns an exam date into a personalized plan and teaches with an AI tutor. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We do not sell your data and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
What we collect
- Account: your name and email address, provided when you sign in with Apple or Google.
- Study content: the courses, exam dates, questions, answers, typed problems, and photos of problems you submit so the AI tutor can teach you.
- Recordings: audio you record in the app (for example a lecture or your own revision notes) and the text transcript made from it. Recordings and transcripts are saved on your device. They leave it only if you choose to back a note up, in which case they are stored in a private, per-account folder that only you can read.
- Learning data: your plan progress, mastery estimates, streaks, and flashcards.
- Purchase status: whether you hold an active subscription (via Apple and RevenueCat). We never receive your card number.
- Device identifier: your device's vendor identifier (IDFV), used only to prevent abuse of the free tier before you sign in.
How we use it
- To generate lessons, exams, and feedback. Study content you submit is sent to OpenAI, our AI processor, to produce teaching responses. If you turn on On-device AI, nothing is sent; see below.
- To save your plan and progress so it syncs across sessions.
- To manage your subscription and enforce free-tier limits.
What stays on your device
On-device AI. If your iPhone supports Apple Intelligence, you can turn on On-device AI in your profile. Ace then runs on Apple's on-device model instead of our servers, and while it is on, your study content is not sent to OpenAI or to us at all. Lessons, flashcards, exam papers, marking and Solve It are all generated on the phone. Photos of problems are read on-device by Apple's Vision text recognition rather than uploaded. You can switch back at any time from the same control.
Ace's voice. Ace's spoken voice is generated entirely on your iPhone by an on-device speech model (Kokoro). Nothing you read or hear is sent anywhere to be spoken, and the voice works with no network connection. The model files are downloaded once from Hugging Face; that download is an anonymous file request and carries no account or study data.
Recordings. A recording is written to your iPhone and stays there. Transcription runs on your device wherever your device supports on-device speech recognition; where it does not, the audio is transcribed by Apple's speech recognition service. We do not send recordings or transcripts to OpenAI, and we do not listen to, review, or train anything on them. If you back a note up, the audio and its transcript are uploaded to your private folder so you can get them back on another device; deleting the note deletes both copies.
Dictation. Speech you dictate to Ace is transcribed on your device where your iPhone supports on-device speech recognition, and otherwise by Apple's speech recognition service. Either way the audio itself never reaches us: only the resulting text does, and it is then processed like any typed message.
Processors we use
- Supabase: authentication, database storage, and the private per-account file storage that holds backed-up notes, documents and recordings.
- OpenAI: AI model that generates teaching responses from your study content. This is the only third party that receives your study content, and it receives nothing while On-device AI is switched on.
- RevenueCat & Apple: subscription management and billing.
Retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Account → Delete account inside the app. Deletion is permanent.
Children
Plan2Ace is intended for students aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
